Volunteer
Position Vacant
Veterinarian Committee Member Needed (Volunteer Role)
Help Us Give Animals a Second Chance
Do you believe every animal deserves love, care, and a safe home?
Angel-Paws Inc is looking for a passionate and qualified veterinarian or clinician to join our Management Committee. We need your expertise to help us in our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs and cats deserving a second chance.
Who We Are
Angel-Paws is a Townsville-based charity that provides abandoned and rejected dogs and cats a second chance at life, whilst promoting solutions to reduce these numbers.
We take in animals from across North Queensland and work with vets and foster carers to bring them to full health before finding them a new home. Following advice from our veterinary team, we ensure that every animal who leaves our care is vet-checked, parasite treated, microchipped, and desexed as appropriate.
What the Role Involves
We’re seeking a vet or clinician who can:
Share their knowledge and advise the Committee on actions to take in managing the health and wellbeing of animals in our care;
Has knowledge and/or experience in the health and environmental challenges that affect animals in the North Queensland region;
Help us shape rescue practices and policies that put animal welfare first;
Work alongside a friendly team of operational staff, foster carers, volunteers, and fellow Committee members;
Advise on emergency treatment protocol, and in rare occasions, step in to help the committee make crucial decisions surrounding the quality of life for animals in our care;
Be a voice for dogs and cats and support our education and outreach in the community.
About You
You’ll be a qualified, or retired veterinarian or clinician who:
Has a passion for animal welfare and a heart for rescue work;
Enjoys working collaboratively with a caring, dedicated team;
Attends monthly Committee meetings hosted online, AGMs and SAGMs as required;
Is flexible, supportive, and understands the challenges and limitations of a not-for-profit rescue;
Wants to use their skills to make a meaningful difference to the overpopulation of unwanted dogs and cats in North Queensland;
You don’t have to be currently practicing in a clinic, but recent experience is preferred.
What You’ll Gain
The joy of helping animals;
A welcoming, community-minded team that values your professional expertise and input into our decision making processes;
The opportunity to shape the way we care for animals and engage with the community;
The reward of seeing both human and animal’s lives changed for the better.
If you’d like to lend your skills and heart to a cause that truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
